5 Main Virtues of Wearing A Hijab

Have you been wearing hijab?
Do you know the virtues that exist in the hijab(body veil) and khimar(head veil)? 
The virtues of wearing it are very much!
Firstly, let us identify what the true meaning of hijab and khimar are.

The command of wearing the hijab is very clear that Allah is delivering in the Surah Al-Ahzab verse 59.

يٰۤـاَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ قُلْ لِّاَزۡوَاجِكَ وَبَنٰتِكَ وَنِسَآءِ الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ يُدۡنِيۡنَ عَلَيۡهِنَّ مِنۡ جَلَابِيۡبِهِنَّ ؕ ذٰ لِكَ اَدۡنٰٓى اَنۡ يُّعۡرَفۡنَ فَلَا يُؤۡذَيۡنَ ؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوۡرًا رَّحِيۡمًا‏ ﴿33:59﴾

(33:59) O Prophet, enjoin your wives and your daughters and the believing women, to draw a part of their outer coverings around them. It is likelier that they will be recognised and not molested. Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

^{This is also conveyed by Allah through Surah An-ur earlier in verse 31.}

ظَهَرَ مِنۡهَا​ وَلۡيَـضۡرِبۡنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلٰى جُيُوۡبِهِنَّ​ وَلَا يُبۡدِيۡنَ زِيۡنَتَهُنَّ اِلَّا لِبُعُوۡلَتِهِنَّ اَوۡ اٰبَآئِهِنَّ اَوۡ اٰبَآءِ بُعُوۡلَتِهِنَّ اَوۡ اَبۡنَآئِهِنَّ اَوۡ اَبۡنَآءِ بُعُوۡلَتِهِنَّ اَوۡ اِخۡوَانِهِنَّ اَوۡ بَنِىۡۤ اِخۡوَانِهِنَّ اَوۡ بَنِىۡۤ اَخَوٰتِهِنَّ اَوۡ نِسَآئِهِنَّ اَوۡ مَا مَلَـكَتۡ اَيۡمَانُهُنَّ اَوِ التّٰبِعِيۡنَ غَيۡرِ اُولِى الۡاِرۡبَةِ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ اَوِ الطِّفۡلِ الَّذِيۡنَ لَمۡ يَظۡهَرُوۡا عَلٰى عَوۡرٰتِ النِّسَآءِ​ وَلَا يَضۡرِبۡنَ بِاَرۡجُلِهِنَّ لِيُـعۡلَمَ مَا يُخۡفِيۡنَ مِنۡ زِيۡنَتِهِنَّ​ ؕ وَتُوۡبُوۡۤا اِلَى اللّٰهِ جَمِيۡعًا اَيُّهَ الۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُوۡنَ‏﴿24:31﴾

(24:31) And enjoin believing women to cast down their looks and guard their private parts and not reveal their adornment except that which is revealed of itself, and to draw their veils over their bosoms, and not to reveal their adornment save to their husbands, or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or of their own sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or the sons of their brothers, or the sons of their sisters, or the women with whom they associate, or those that are in their bondage, or the male attendants in their service free of sexual interest, or boys that are yet unaware of illicit matters pertaining to women. Nor should they stamp their feet on the ground in such manner that their hidden ornament becomes revealed. Believers, turn together, all of you, to Allah in repentance that you may attain true success.

So, a Hijab حجاب)‎‎ ḥijāb) is a veil traditionally worn by some Muslim women in the presence of adult males outside of their immediate family, which usually covers the head and chest. The word ḥijāb in the Quran refers not to women's clothing, but rather a spatial partition or curtain. The term can refer to any head, face, or body covering worn by Muslim women that conforms to a certain standard of modesty. Most often, it is worn by Muslim women as a symbol of modesty and privacy.(Source:Wikipedia)

Then do you know, shalihah, what are the virtues of Muslim women using hijab?

I will convey the 5 essential virtues that Muslim women will get through their hijab by me. 💕

1. To Fulfill Allah SWT Commands

Wearing hijab throughout the body is a command that Allah has conveyed through the  two surah above(Al-Ahzab;59 and An-Nur;31). This command also requires Muslim women to keep their body parts from any non mahram for them. 

In hadith, Narrated Umm Salama Hind bint Abi Umayya, Ummul Mu'minin: "When the verse 'That they should cast their outer garments over their persons' was revealed, the women of Ansar came out as if they had crows hanging down over their heads by wearing outer garments."  

Abū Dawud classed this hadith as authentic.

2. To Keep The Eyes from Seeing that Is Not Their Right

This is also explained in the two surah above. When the whole aurat of a woman is closed , they are trying to keep their eyes from a negative case. So do the man. They will not be able to see the aurot of a woman before he becomes rightful for her. 

3. To Maintain The Self-respect of The Muslim Women Themselves

Closing the aurat for Muslim women is a command that aims for women to be respected by men and blessed by Allah SWT. Hijab is a clothing as an Islamic identity and a differentiator with a Jewish woman. In Islam, women are jewelry that must be maintained. Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said in his noble hadith about the virtue of sholihah woman narrated by Abdullah bin Amr bin' Ash:

                                                                             الدنيا متاع وخير متاع الدنيا المرأة الصالحة) رواه مسلم

"The world is a jewelry and the best of world jewelry is a woman of shalihah." (Hadith of Muslim history from Abdullah ibn Umar).

4. To Prevent Illness

Wearing a hijab can also prevent disease, such as skin diseases. Wide veil that cover the entire body can prevent from the sun directly barking the skin so that UV rays do not affect to the skin frequently.

5. To Avoid Evil Intentions of Men

Women are the aurat as described in HR. At-Tirmidhi no. 1173, saheeh in Misykatul Mashabih no. 3109 which reads,

  "The woman is aurat. When he comes out, Satan will adorn it (to seduce men). "

It is evident that every woman has an aura of beauty, not a few men who first see women may not be interested, but when it has begun to interact and speak then comes a passion or a sense of attraction. The biggest male slander (test) is women. Therefore, men need to be vigilant with their slander.

"I did not leave my afterlife slander which is more dangerous for men (slander) woman."

HR. Bukhari no.5096 and Muslim no.7122

MasyaaAllah tabarakallah. surely Allah SWT requires Muslim women to wear hijab just because Allah SWT cares and wants to keep His creatures save.
