Assalamualaikum.

Here is my reflection for my writing learning in first semester. 

1.     My Interest in Learning English

I like English since I was in elementary school because of my English teacherabout 8 years ago. I really loved the way my English teacher teaching in that time and I just got inspired, then I decided to be an English teacher like her someday. Many my friends said that English is very difficult to master since there are too many rules in its application, But I think, if we put intention, desire, and hard efforts in learning it, we certainly can understand it. In my opinion, English is an interesting subject. By learning English, I can be connected with everybody around the world.

There are so many ways to learn English. I like to listen to music and english songs. Sometimes I also listen to the song while reading the lyrics to understand how to pronounce it the same way the singer does. I love to writing something. I love to write in my diary book with English. I often make quotes or motivation words using english on my social media accounts. Using English in writing can imrove my writing skill and increase my vocabularies.

2.     Doing Project Based Learning

I think writing is very an important skill to master English because writing is related to other skills, such as speaking, reading, and listening. Writing can not be mastered without any structured strategy. Projects make writing is easily to be applicated. In my opinion, doing projects in writing is very useful and helpful. Writing project is very recommended to everyone who wants to learn and master English especially in linguistic.

By doing many projects related to writing in English, not only our writing skill will be improved, but also our knowledge because project makes us know about the things that we don’t know before. Project can pull us to always doing our best to gain the best result too. Sometimes, think about  the idea of doing projects also can be very tiring. We need really extra energy. Moreover, if the project is the one that need another activity such as filming, printing, designing, or else can make us need other materials or money if really needed.  

3.     Advantages from Project Based Learning

Advantage is something that can be gained from what we are doing or what we see or accept, advantage also means profit or benefit. Projects Based Learning have so many advantages. I can gain the advantages from each project are different depends on what the instructions of doing the projects. By learning using projects, we can gain other skills. The skill is not only writing and make sentences, but also designing something like posters, postcards, and many others. Other skill that can be gained is editing video skill by learning on how to make my own vlog or Video Blog. When we have so many projects and they should be done in one deadline, I also learn how to use every second I have wisely. There were 3 writing projects that I really  love.

First, write about my passion. This project was given on November. I posted about what my passion is in my blog website and my passion is hijab. I really love hijab because hijab is every Muslim woman’s pride. In my blog, I posted about  virtues or advantage of always using hijab. There are 5 main virtues and I had felt them all so I recommend everybody to read the post on my blog and share it if they feel it useful. Through this post, I learnt how to share about my passion to everyone.

Second, do vlogging. Vlog stand for Video Blog. 3 or 4 weeks ago my friends and I shall make a vlog by share  about how to learn English by SILL and every person of us got 2 strategies. I got learn english by remembering the words in specific places strategy and writing every single new word strategy. From this prject, I learnt how to make storyboard, shotlist, and transcript. Transcript is very useful to help success the vlog. I also learnt how to taking video and editing it in vlogging.

And the last project was make a poster. I the first meeting, we were told that we will our poster exhibition but it was canceled. My poster was about muslim quote. I edited my poster using my phone and I am using PICSart. I learnt how to create poster by doing this project and now I know. I also got to know more fiture in PICSart and how to operate it. I also learnt how to combine colours to making my poster looks catchy.

4.     Challenges of Doing Project Based Learning

Challenge is the difficulties or obstacles that are gained or happened in doing or making something. Challenge is challenging and motivating but sometimes it can make us feel tiring and hopeless. I think challenge is not always difficult to solve, we must always try and be sure that good effort has good result as well. Projects Based Learning are sometimes challeging. I can feel the challenges from each project are different depends on what the instructions of doing the projects, such as difficulty in finding ideas, limitations of tools and materials, and also the inadequate time. There were 3 writing projects that I found are very challenging.

The most challenging project was vlogging. I think every student will choose this project too. Make a vlog was not that simple. We shall think about the whole activities we should do and write them in three parts, a storyboard, a shotlist, and a transcript. In my opinion, the hardest steps on vlogging were taking video and editing it. I found it difficult because I have never created a vlog before. Moreover, I don’t have a video editing application in my laptop and I don’t even  know how to operate it.

The second challenging project was poster. There were many difficulties in doing it but that was fine.  I found it difficult to get inspired. Editing poster also really need good skills. I created my poster using PICSart and I got problem on colouring it. In my first poster, it was criticized that the colour is too dim. So, I decided to create the new one with pink. I also got difficulty on choosing font style. At least, my poster is not that simple and it looks so elegent, I guess.

The third project that was challenging is International email. I found it difficult because I can not find any international event or international organization that holds an event or contest this time easily. At the beginning, I didn’t know what should I ask because the detail information was clearly written on the website.

5.     Overall Impression on Doing Project Based Learning

I’m very happy I have learn many things from writing through my projects. Although sometimes I feel very exhausted but I know I could do it. I like to writing on my blog and I feel awesome my posts were read by many visitors and maybe some of them are foreigners. I wish I can keep writing on my blog so that I can be more creative, but I don’t have an idea what should I post, I will looking for my other passion instead.

I think writing journals and book reviews are the best project that I can keep doing through my blog. I’m sure many people need to know about the books they will buy first before buy it. Or maybe I can writing about other things.
